Survival Guide

Money exchange

Never ever exchange money on the street, always use an exchange office.
There is a high risk of getting scammed by the scammers, which often give you expired Belorussian rubbles instead of the Czech Koruna.

Check the website of the Czech National Bank for the list of current banknotes and their appearance. Also note, that from 1 July 2022 older designs of the banknotes are invalid. You can read more information on the website of the Czech National bank . Always check the banknotes you are receiving if they are valid.

Before exchanging money, check carefully the exchange rates, some exchange offices offer quite unfavourable rates. You can check the official middle rates on the website of the Czech National Bank. The deviation from this middle rate should not be larger than CZK ~1 for good exchange offices.

Always ask for receipt and check it immediately. If, after exchanging money in the exchange office, you realise the exchange rate was not favourable for you, you have 3 hours to go back and cancel the transaction. The cancellation must be done at the same place and with the receipt.
